We decided to head to the remote and isolated southern area of the Death Valley NP known as Ibex Dunes. Once there, we loaded up backpacks, tripods, and water and started the approximately 1.5 mile trek to the dune field, and then hiked up to the apex of the roughly 600 ft dune to scan for photo opportunities. The sky had very little cloud cover until a couple of hours or so in, then we noticed 3 dust devils, and increasing cloud cover. A short time later, we witnessed the most amazing storm, complete with blowing sand, black clouds, thunder in the distance, and colors in the sky I've never seen the likes of before. It was simply amazing. Shot with my Canon R6, RF 15-35, F16, 1/25 sec, 16mm, and ISO 100.
