This is a split-level shot of Lake Drachensee, Austria in the Spring as the ice was still melting.
There was an extraordinary set of circumstances at play which allowed me to get this shot. The location needs to be physically accessible since there is a substantial hike involved. It was early in the hiking season and the winter had seen more snow than usual. Part of reaching this lake involved hiking over snowfields and ice with all of my gear.
As I initially saw the lake from up on the ridge, I was excited to see what possibilities there may be. I explored various openings along the shoreline to capture the ice underwater. You can see how the water level is higher than normal. This shot is one of many captures from that day.
