This is a split-level shot taken at higher elevation in the clear water of Lake Sebensee in Austria. I use an underwater housing and I am in a full drysuit due to the extremely cold water.

I find it to be one of the most spectacular hiking locations in the region. It is often a challenge to have a day where the conditions are just right for such a shot. Most importantly, having the calm water before the breeze comes up. Also, necessary sunlight to penetrate the water and 'light up' the underwater world.

Upon arrival at the lake, I am overcome by the peacefulness and calm of this location. As the morning mist was delicately lifting, I took in the serenity of it all while searching for possible spots to shoot. At one point I discovered a lone log underwater. It had such an ancient, timeless, untouched quality to it. After donning my drysuit, I made my way carefully into the water, trying not to stir up the soft sediment. The conditions were superb, and it took great effort to keep the waters surface and sediment still, resulting in this beautiful capture.
