This split level shot was taken at Lago di Braies in South Tyrol, Italy. I spent a few days here shooting in my drysuit at various spots around the lake. I had a shot in mind on the boat dock but I had to get there before the crowds to make it happen.
One morning, I got there just early enough. A rowboat was resting on the water just out in front of the dock, and the submerged steps leading to the boat intrigued me...and the skies and light were perfect. I positioned myself on the second and third steps submerged in the water and held the camera housing in place as best I could, essentially estimating the frame but checking every once in a while. I knew I had little time to get the shot. The rowboat was moving slightly right making it even more difficult to adjust each time. But the waters surface was perfect, and the light was just right. This shot is the result of that precious moment.
