I was lucky enough to go to India on a tiger photo workshop. We visited three tiger reserves in the center of India. These are wild tigers, not feed, totally free. Once it took us 3 full days to find one tiger. I was lucky to get this one coming towards our jeep through the weeds. They will not attack people in the jeeps, but just get very close. This was shot with my Nikon 600mm F6.3 at the minimum focusing distance, which is 13 ft.
Actually, it was scary as he kept getting closer and closer. The challenge is patience since you get up very early to get in line to get into the reserves. Since there are only about 60 tigers in a reserve, you spend a lot of time just looking for them. Of course, you see lots of other wildlife as well..
I used just normal post processing. This was taken in Pench National Park.
There was a film about the history of saving and protecting the tigers and it made me realize what a special experience it is to see them in the wild.
