A very early morning in the Everglades. I found that spot a few days before I returned to capture the first light when I thought the conditions could be right. Standing in the water at dark, waiting for the first light to arrive, and knowing this is alligator country can be a bit nerve-racking.

Pythons
Pythons?
I know there are some in the Everglades but I didn't see any.
good for you.... I am not sure that I would have the courage to stand in the water in a place like that; or I would have some of those guys who hunt for pythons along with me....
My main concern was the gators, but you can spot them easily with a flashlight. Their eyes do glow like headlights. As far as I know nobody got ever attacked by a python in the Everglades. However, your concern is valid, when I was in the Brazilian Pantanal anacondas were a big concern..and I read some were released in the Everglades as well.

Juergen, Congratulations on “Everglades Light" selection as Photo Of The Day!
Florida City area (western everglades) ?
Thank you, Paul. And, yes you are correct with your assumption
Ops meant of say Everglades City area (western everglade), Florida City we always called the Homestead entrance. Should have refreshed a my brain with a map first. Have a good one.
Didn‘t catch it either. But it was Everglades City where I stayed.
Yeah it's the place for The Cypress Swamp, I'd only got over to that area a couple of times. I mostly spent time from Biscayne and west southwest to Flamingo, Florida Bay, north thorough Pa-hay-okee / river of grass.
