The Setup:
Imagine me shut in a hotel room and a fire starts and I only have 50% chance of survival.
The Paradox:
Classical physics would suggest that I am either alive or dead, but quantum mechanics, in its early interpretations, suggests that until the room is opened and observed, I exists in a superposition of both states simultaneously.
Superposition:
This concept of superposition means that I am both alive and dead at the same time, a probabilistic state where I am both possible outcomes until observed.
The Observation:
Opening the room and observing me forces it into a single, definite state (either alive or dead), collapsing the superposition
Now I know how the cat feels!
I must say that this has left me a little confused Dean.
Is the cat in the room with you when the fire breaks out, or does it have its own room?
And how does that change the equation after adding this new variable?
I need to know who is responsible for saving the cat 😊
It's not mne, it's Schrodinger's Cat.
According to this, you're sleeping on the outside of the hotel!
LOL!
